Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday highlighted the country’s national objective - “the reunification and the well-being of its citizens”, further noting that Georgia was not striving to become part of the European civilisation or to “enter” Europe as it was already an integral part of it.
In his remarks, Papuashvili said that this connection had taken different forms throughout history, but the country belonged to Europe and Western civilisation.
Referring to the events of 2022, Papuashvili emphasised that had the opposition been in power or had the Government followed their advice, Georgia would have been left in ruins, mourning and pleading for peace.
The Parliament Speaker also addressed claims that Georgia was isolated, dismissing them as propaganda by those seeking to install a puppet Government in the country.
“There is no isolation in our country. How can a country with 11.1 percent economic growth be isolated? A specific political group has an interest in using Georgia as a tool in this global war and proxy conflict. Since Georgia refuses to be used as such, certain forces are looking for ways to change the situation by bringing a puppet Government to power - one that would follow their directives. The claim that Georgia is isolated is nothing more than their own propaganda”, he said.
