Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday urged the international community, particularly European countries, to condemn the so-called “presidential elections” held in the Russian-occupied Abkhazia region.
“On behalf of the Parliament, we strongly condemn the holding of these so-called elections. Any act or action carried out on the territory of Abkhazia, as long as Georgia's jurisdiction is not fully restored and Abkhazia remains occupied, is, of course, illegal. These so-called elections are no exception”, the Parliament official said.
“I call on the international community, especially European countries that have not condemned the so-called elections held in Abkhazia, to denounce these so-called elections and declare them illegal!” he concluded.
