Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, on Monday strongly criticised the Baltic states for their unfair and hostile positioning toward Georgia.
Ionatamishvili’s comment followed a recent move by Estonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsahkna, who on Monday signed an order banning an additional 55 Georgian nationals from entering the country.
In his remarks, Ionatamishvili stressed that the Baltic states had repeatedly attempted to undermine the sovereignty of the country.
“It is unfortunately not new that the Baltic states have been exposed for their most hostile and unjust positioning toward Georgia. They have made multiple attempts to infringe upon our country’s sovereignty”, the Parliament official said.
He further emphasised that such decisions and positions ultimately yield no results and only solidify the Georgian people's perception of those making such decisions.
“Their actions remain futile and achieve nothing apart from reinforcing the Georgian people's clear stance toward those responsible. If they lack the ability to draw conclusions from their baseless and hostile decisions, they may continue on this path. In the end, all they will be left with are worthless pieces of paper - but, as it seems, they do not deserve anything better”, he concluded.
