Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday claimed the war in Ukraine could have been “easily” avoided, but the deep state had done “everything” to ensure that this military aggression took place, which he called “a great crime not only against the Ukrainian people, but also against humanity”.
In his remarks over the matter, Kobakhidze stressed it was a “devastating” war that had claimed countless lives.
“Avoiding the war in Ukraine was entirely possible. You may recall our statements from early 2022. We insisted that absolutely all forces should have done everything to prevent a war in Ukraine, but this is not just a matter for the Ukrainian Government. First and foremost, it was the deep state that had done everything to ensure the war in Ukraine broke out. There were various interests involved”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze further clarified that he was referring to the prevention of war, not the military aggression itself.
“I am talking about preventing the war, not the military aggression itself. The military aggression was carried out by the Russian Federation, but this war could have been avoided. However, the deep state did everything to ensure that this military aggression took place, which is a grave crime not only against the Ukrainian people but against all of humanity”, he concluded.
