Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Wednesday responded to the United States President Donald Trump’s statement regarding the possibility of preventing the war in Ukraine, and recalled a resolution adopted by the Georgian Parliament three years ago.
“When Trump says the war should never have started, I immediately remember the resolution passed by the Georgian Parliament exactly three years ago”, the Parliament official said.
“In that resolution, we emphasised that everyone should do their utmost to prevent a war in Ukraine. We fully support this approach - the primary focus should be on peace, not on war”, Makhashvili continued.
US President Donald Trump made his remarks in response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s criticism over Ukraine not being invited to US-Russia negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
Addressing Zelenskyy, Trump said: “You should never have started this war. You could have made a deal”.
