Ruling party official says article of Criminal Code related to treason will be reinstated

Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday said the article of the Criminal Code related to treason would be reinstated, which was previously removed by the former United National Movement Government.

“By our decision, the article on treason will be added to the Criminal Code of Georgia, and it is more accurate to say that the article on treason will be reinstated, which was removed from the Criminal Code by the [United] National Movement [party]. Whether it surprises anyone or not, or whether it is symbolic, this happened before the August War, in April 2007”, Mdinaradze said.
