Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday said Georgia “successfully” held the parliamentary elections last October, and the country now had a Government elected by the Georgian people.
In her interview with Imedi TV, Botchorishvili expressed confidence that the current attitudes of certain countries toward Georgia could change very quickly.
“Elections were held in Georgia, Georgia has a Government elected by the Georgian people, and whether the opposition likes it or not, whether anyone else likes it or not, this is how it is and this is how the Georgian Government's relations with the governments of other countries will continue”, the Minister said.
Botchorishvili further emphasised the importance of closely monitoring global developments, including the EU's positioning on key issues, such as recent discussions surrounding Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin’s remarks on Ukraine.
“Of course, it is important for us that this issue is resolved taking into account and protecting the interests of Ukraine, however, we see that statements are made in different ways and events are developing differently, where the parties may have to make concessions. So, interesting processes are developing. In these interesting processes, it is important that we do not harm our interests and pursue the development of Georgia and the economic progress of Georgia, first of all, so that our citizens can live better in this country”, she concluded.
