Thea Tsulukiani, the Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament and the Chair of the temporary investigative commission that will examine alleged crimes committed by the former United National Movement Government between 2003-2012, on Thursday announced that the commission's scope would cover all aspects of the period, including prisons and property confiscation.
Tsulukiani’s comments followed the establishment of the Temporary investigative commission in the Georgian Parliament to investigate activities of the former United National Movement regime and its officials between 2003 and 2012.
In her remarks, Tsulukiani noted that the goal of the commission was to assess who was in charge of the country between 2003 and 2012, how they governed it and their motives.
“Every direction will be covered, from prisons to issues surrounding property confiscation, how public servants were treated, how elections were held - this will be of great interest to us, as well as how international disputes were conducted - whether superficially or negligently”, the Vice Speaker said.
