Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said his Government was committed to making significant progress in the fight against corruption, aiming for Georgia to rank among the top three nations in the world in terms of low corruption.
Kobakidze’s comments came in response to the latest Corruption Perceptions Index published by Transparency International. According to the 2024 index, Georgia maintains its leading position in the region and continues to rank first in Eastern Europe and Central Asia in terms of low corruption.
“Our ultimate goal is to be among the world’s leading countries, ideally in the top three, in terms of low corruption. There is strong political will to achieve this, and the rest depends on the correct policies”, the PM said in a social media message.
Kobakhidze emphasised that his Government would take all necessary measures to ensure further progress in this area.
“The Government will do everything to maximise the country’s progress in this direction. For instance, all governmental decrees and legal acts are fully transparent and publicly accessible on our official website. To date, thousands of acts have been published without any objections. I strongly encourage all public institutions to follow the Government's example, be proactive, and ensure transparency”, he concluded.
