Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday said his Government’s “primary focus” was to prevent a recurrence of the Maidan scenario in the country and, most importantly, to avoid the opening of a second front amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Speaking to Georgian journalists in Dubai, Kobakhidze emphasised that neither a Maidan-style uprising nor the “Ukrainisation” of Georgia would take place.
“Our main efforts should be aimed at preventing a recurrence of the Maidan in our country and, most importantly, preventing a second front, which specific entities wanted so much and, it seems, want to this day”, the PM said.
The Prime Minister reflected on the consequences of the Maidan events and the subsequent conflict in Ukraine, warning against similar scenarios in Georgia.
“For a long time, we have been saying that we must prevent the Ukrainisation of Georgia. When representatives of certain countries discuss the development of a Maidan-like scenario, it provides an interesting basis for analysis. There will be no Maidan in Georgia, and there will be no Ukrainisation. You see what revolution, the Maidan, and the subsequent war have brought to our friendly nation, Ukraine”, Kobakhidze concluded.
