Davit Matikashvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules, said on Tuesday that Hungary’s new leadership was taking a critical stance toward policies pursued by European Union officials toward Budapest, particularly on migration.
Matikashvili was responding to recent remarks by Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar, who said it was difficult for Hungarians to understand why Brussels treated Hungary “so unfairly” over migration.
“Despite different expectations from the European bureaucracy, it is now clear that Hungary’s new leadership is quite critical of the policy pursued by the European bureaucracy toward Hungary”, Matikashvili said.
He added that the EU’s migration policy was proving “extremely difficult” for the bloc itself, which he said pointed to the failure of EU policy.
