Mamuka Mdinaradze, Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and State Minister for the Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies, on Friday said Georgia would always play a special role in the Middle Corridor, stressing the country's geographical position made it an indispensable transit hub regardless of political developments.
Speaking at a briefing at the Government Administration, Mdinaradze said it was "inconceivable" to discuss regional connectivity without Georgia, adding the country would continue to fulfil its historical and geographical mission as a transit state.
“The Middle Corridor, connectivity and the transit corridor are terms that briefly describe the reality in which Georgia plays a crucial role in trade, economic cooperation and transit services across a range of economic sectors. Although, for example, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly seemed to think in recent days that Georgia should be erased from the map altogether, Georgia is where it is, and it is inconceivable to even discuss these issues without it”, he said.
“Georgia will always play a special role and fulfil a special mission in every aspect of the Middle Corridor. It is a transit country, and this historical and geographical mission will always remain, and everyone will have to take this into account”, Mdinaradze concluded.
