Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday called on the European bureaucracy to reconsider what he described as its “comical” attitude toward Georgia and the Georgian people, arguing that repeated attempts to bring the collective United National Movement back to power had failed because they lacked public support.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze said his Government remained open to cooperation despite disagreements with some European officials.
“We are present everywhere, and this is precisely why Georgia's economy continues to grow rapidly. Georgia's role in regional connectivity is also steadily strengthening. Georgia is engaged everywhere. As for the European bureaucracy, it should reconsider its comical attitude toward Georgia and the Georgian people”, he said.
“It is clear they wanted to change the Government and bring the collective United National Movement back to power. We heard it once, twice, five times. They tried five times to return Nika Gvaramia, Tina Bokuchava, Levan Khabeishvili and others like them to power”, Kobakhidze continued.
He emphasised that his Government understood that this was their goal, but they could see that the Georgian people didn’t accept these individuals, they did not accept agents and would not return them to power and perhaps it was time to stop.
“That is our simple message. As for everything else, our Government remains fully open. We are open to all forms of cooperation and are even prepared to put behind us everything they have done against the Georgian people over the past five years”, Kobakhidze concluded.
