Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday sharply criticised EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, stating that her stance toward Georgia represents a “completely disgraceful attitude”.
Responding to a journalist’s question, Kobakhidze said that while the Russian Federation does not recognize Georgia’s sovereignty over 20% of its territory, Kallas effectively does not recognize Georgia’s sovereignty over 100% of its territory.
“We have often said that there is a country, the Russian Federation, which does not recognize Georgia’s sovereignty over 20% of our territory. There is Ms. Kaja Kallas, who does not recognize Georgia’s sovereignty over 100% of the country’s territory. You can judge for yourselves how such an attitude should be assessed,” the Prime Minister said.
According to Kobakhidze, such an approach is “completely disgraceful” and deserves a strong response.
“Of course, this is a completely disgraceful attitude. It is a very serious matter and therefore warrants a serious assessment. When the European Union’s highest representative does not recognize and opposes the will of the Georgian people, and stands against the Georgian people, this is a very grave development”, he stated.
