The Chandler Institute has published its Regulatory Governance rating as part of the Good Government Report 2026, awarding the Georgian government a high score for its governance framework and policies that support private sector development.
The Regulatory Governance indicator measures a government’s ability to develop and implement effective policies and regulations that foster and support private sector development.
The study was conducted by the World Bank’s Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI) project.
Georgia ranked 31st globally and among the top 20 countries in Europe. The country outperformed all EU candidate countries as well as 17 EU and NATO member states.
Within the framework of this global study, Georgia was assessed based on data from seven internationally recognized assessment organizations and projects, including the German Bertelsmann Transformation Index, the British Economist Intelligence Unit, the Heritage Foundation’s Index of Economic Freedom, S&P Global Ratings, the World Bank’s Enterprise Surveys, the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report, and the American World Justice Project.
