Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday commented on the latest resolution on Georgia adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, saying it was filled with falsehoods and slander, similar to previous resolutions.
Kaladze responded to the adoption of the Hague Declaration by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which also included a resolution on Georgia, titled Protecting the Integrity of Elections and Fundamental Freedoms in Georgia.
“This is not the first time such a resolution has been adopted. It is regrettable that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly supports such a disgraceful resolution. This institution is invited to observe elections in countries, including Georgia. When you adopt a resolution filled with lies, how can you claim to be an election observer? How can such an organization be invited to assess elections”, Kaladze said.
He noted that representatives of what he described as an “agent network” would not be allowed to participate in elections, which he said would protect the country from external influence.
“Other countries' interests will not be pursued here. First and foremost comes the Georgian state. What happened before 2012 will not happen again, when every absurd statement made by any foreigner about Georgia was accepted as the truth. The Georgian people are the masters of this country. They decide who governs the country, not external forces, as was the case in the past”, he said.
“Certain international organizations have been involved in hostile activities against Georgia. When President Trump publicly described these organizations and spoke about the issues we had been raising for years, all of that was forgotten. We will not allow these people to advance the interests of other major countries in Georgia”, Kaladze concluded.
