Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday commented on tensions and political realignments within the opposition, saying that the main issue with these groups is what he described as their “agent-like” nature. He added that this is reflected in the fact that their primary audience is consistently foreign powers, foreign organizations, and other countries.
In his remarks, Papuashvili noted that the ongoing political reshuffling within the opposition is, in his view, of little overall significance.
“Overall, these realignments are of little importance. The main issue with these groups, according to him, is their agent-like nature, which is reflected in the fact that their primary audience is consistently foreign powers, foreign organizations, and other countries. He further argued that their political agenda is shaped around instructions from abroad and the pursuit of approval from external actors, rather than focusing on the Georgian public or earning their support”, he said
“An agent network remains an agent network regardless of how it is reorganized, and, in his view, such externally driven political groups cannot contribute anything beneficial to the country”, the Parliament Speaker concluded.
