Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the Georgian Dream parliamentary faction, said on Saturday that the European Union needs a more structured relationship with Georgia, arguing that Brussels is currently unable to independently shape its own policy.
Speaking on the Imedi TV talk show Open Air - Debates, Machavariani noted that, based on its own strategic interests, the European Union should prioritize building a clear and structured relationship with Georgia.
“The European Union, based on its own goals, today needs a well-structured relationship with Georgia. Why are they in a sulking mood? Because the EU is unable to formulate its own policy”, he said.
The official further claimed that European bureaucracy was not acting in line with the real needs of the Union.
“Unfortunately, today’s ruling class in Brussels is not independent; the European Union today already needs a well-structured relationship with Georgia”, Machavariani concluded.
