Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the Georgian Dream parliamentary faction, on Saturday said Georgia had made every effort to initiate relations with the new US administration within the framework of a genuine strategic partnership, pointing to value-based alignment, support for Donald Trump, and a willingness to formulate a concrete roadmap for future cooperation.
Speaking on the Imedi TV talk show Open Air - Debates, Machavariani noted that Georgia had taken all necessary steps to allow relations with the United States to begin anew at the level of an authentic partnership.
“We have done everything with the United States so that relations with this administration can begin at the level of a genuine partnership. We openly supported Mr. Donald Trump. Our rhetoric, our views, and our values are in absolute alignment, and they know that we are ready to sit down and draft a concrete roadmap, both in time and scope, that will take into account the interests of both sides. These are very positive steps”, he said.
The official also underscored the critical role of close ties with Central Asian nations in enabling broader connectivity goals.
“Without such close relations with Central Asian countries, none of this would be possible. The fact that our partnership with China has been elevated to such a level is extremely important, as today China is one of the most significant global actors. Our relations with China are also interesting because such a major power views us as an equal partner”, Machavariani concluded.
