Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Saturday said that Georgia was actively developing partnerships with countries across different regions to maximise its connectivity role, while firmly reaffirming that the country’s strategic objective remains integration into the European Union.
Speaking to the media ahead of her participation in the Dubrovnik Forum in Croatia, Botchorishvili highlighted the importance of Georgia’s multi-vector diplomacy.
“The discussion in which I will have the opportunity to address the forum participants concerns multi-vector diplomacy. This is an issue that is relevant for Georgia, not only because of our geographical location, but also in light of the broader geopolitical context. Of course, it is very important for us that Georgia's positions on this issue are properly presented”, she said.
The Foreign Minister stressed that such partnerships did not alter Georgia’s strategic choice and that this position would be clearly presented at the forum.
“We are building partnerships, and we are seeking closer ties with countries from different regions, with the sole objective of making more effective use of the prominent role Georgia plays in the region through its connectivity. Of course, this does not mean that we are replacing our strategic goals, and this will be stated very openly and clearly in my speech as well. Georgia's strategic choice is integration into the European Union”, Botchorishvili concluded.
