Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday described the domestic opposition as exhibiting a tragic lack of intelligence, education, patriotism, and integrity, while emphasising that his government’s task was to continue actively advancing the country’s development, taking full responsibility for sustaining last year’s impressive results.
During his annual address to the Parliament, Kobakhidze contrasted his government’s achievements with the opposition’s poor performance in political debate.
“The picture we see is tragic. It shows an extreme deficit of intelligence, an extreme deficit of education, an extreme deficit of patriotism, and an extreme deficit of integrity. This is truly a tragic phenomenon, and it is precisely the result of all this that you have managed to halve your own electoral result in one year”, he said.
The Prime Minister criticised the opposition for failing to offer substantive arguments, facts, or data during parliamentary discussions.
“It is truly tragic the extreme poverty you demonstrate in this political discussion. When you have a debate with an opposition faction in Parliament, it should be interesting. Arguments should be met with arguments, numbers with numbers, facts with facts. There are no numbers, no facts, no arguments, nothing at all - this is the tragic fact that once again reveals a deficit of intelligence, knowledge, and integrity”, Kobakhidze noted.
In contrast, he highlighted his government’s strong performance last year across all sectors and pledged to maintain this development trajectory, assuming full responsibility for its continuation.
“As for our agenda, our task is to continue actively working for the country’s development. I will say once again that last year was impressive, as confirmed by data in all directions. The key is for this development course to continue, and we of course take full responsibility for it”, he concluded.
