Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Tuesday responded to the recent resolution of the Council of Europe by saying that this was another attempt to use international institutions for political purposes.
“This is another attempt to use international organisations and institutions for political purposes that small groups have in relation to Georgia. They are doing everything to ensure that the narratives regarding Georgia, which have been recorded in numerous resolutions, are voiced as much as possible in all institutions and adopted in the form of various resolutions”, Botchorishvili said.
“This is exactly how attempts are being made to use international organizations as a political tool. We have seen this in various institutions: we constantly see it in the European Parliament, we see it in the Council of Europe, there was an attempt to use it in the OSCE as well - you remember the launch of the Moscow Mechanism in relation to Georgia”, she continued.
The Minister also noted that such a practice was unacceptable and this issue was being actively discussed with Georgia’s international partners.
“We are talking about this with our partners, emphasizing this very often, and it is completely unacceptable when trust in international institutions is shaken by such methods”, she concluded.
