Malte Kaufmann, a representative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, stated on Monday that the Georgian government is moving in a positive direction, describing it as more conservative and patriotic than its predecessors.
“This should be a resolution that acknowledges Georgia's progress”, Kaufmann said. “I believe Georgia is heading in the right direction, and as member states of the Council of Europe, we should respect the will of the Georgian people, who have held elections and chosen their government”.
“I believe this government is on the right track by being more conservative and patriotic than before, and I think this should be reflected in the resolution. While I have not had the chance to fully acquaint myself with all the details yet, I will be speaking on Wednesday. We will gather more information today and tomorrow, after which amendments will likely be proposed, followed by further discussion and the final outcome”, he concluded.
