Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday stressed the need to improve the overall social climate in Georgia, noting that hatred has been artificially imposed from outside for years - a phenomenon foreign to Georgian culture.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that it was essential to ensure that external actors did not succeed in introducing division and hostility into Georgian society.
“It is important to improve the overall situation in society. For all these years, hatred has been artificially imposed on us from outside, which is not a phenomenon characteristic of Georgian culture. The Department for Combating Hate Speech will play a special role in protecting us from hatred and aggression that is being artificially imposed from outside”, he said.
The Prime Minister further argued that maintaining social stability requires active efforts to counter what he described as externally imposed aggression and division.
“We must not allow anyone from outside to impose hatred in Georgia. The department will play a special role in ensuring that we protect ourselves from the hatred and aggression that is being artificially imposed from outside”, Kobakhidze concluded.
