At the initiative of Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee and Head of Georgia's Permanent Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, new provision will be added to the OSCE PA's annual report, calling on the new Syrian Government to revoke the recognition if the so-called independence of Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali regions, as well as the Ukrainian Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
According to the report, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly called on the new Syrian Government to recognize the territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine.
“I think many of you are not aware that the previous Syrian Government, on the instructions of Russia, recognized the independence of the Georgian regions - Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and also recognized the independence of the Ukrainian regions - Donetsk and Luhansk. Therefore, it is extremely important to make a note in the report about Syria, which violates the territorial integrity of two OSCE Parliamentary Assembly participating States, Georgia and Ukraine, and to call on the new Syrian Government to revoke the recognition of the independence of the Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, as well as Donetsk and Luhansk, and to respect and recognize the territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine”, Samkharadze said.
