The Tbilisi City Court on Friday imposed a bail of ₾1 million ($368,425,30) on former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili as a preventive measure in a case of legalisation of particularly large amounts of illegal income.
The court fully satisfied the prosecution’s request. The former Prime Minister must pay this amount within 30 days. Additionally, the prosecution’s request to prohibit him from leaving the country was also approved.
The pre-trial hearing is scheduled for December 16.
Emzar Gagnidze, the Director of the Georgian State Security Service’s Anti-Corruption Agency, on Wednesday said that the former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili was questioned, noting that the former official fully cooperated with investigators and admitted to receiving illegal income over the years.
On October 17, Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvaramidze announced during a briefing that searches were conducted at the homes of Irakli Garibashvili, Grigol Liluashvili, Otar Partskhaladze, and eight other individuals connected to them.
Various electronic devices, documents, and large sums of cash were seized.
