Interior Ministry: former Chair of Gov’t of Autonomous Republic of Adjara hospitalised with gunshot wound

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Monday reported that Tornike Rizhvadze, the former Chair of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, was admitted to Sagarejo Geohospital with a gunshot wound to the chest area.

The Ministry has launched an investigation under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to incitement to suicide.

Intensive investigative actions are in progress regarding the fact.

Rizhvadze received emergency medical assistance.

According to doctors, he has a damaged lung and his health condition is stable, although serious.

Herewith, one person has been detained as a defendant under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Georgia for negligent storage of a firearm.
