Police solve Tbilisi stabbing case shortly after incident - one suspect detained

The Georgian Interior Ministry’s Tbilisi Police Department on Wednesday detained a man on charges of intentional infliction of severe bodily harm.

“The investigation revealed that on July 1 of this year, during an altercation in Tbilisi, the suspect stabbed a 42-year-old man in the chest with a cold weapon and fled the scene. The injured man is currently being treated in a medical facility”, the Ministry said.

“Police officers arrested the suspect shortly after the incident during a hot pursuit operation”, the statement concluded.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to the intentional infliction of serious injury and is punishable by 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.
