The Georgian State Security Service on Wednesday called on diplomatic missions to act responsibly and coordinate with Georgian authorities, especially when making public statements related to security issues.
The agency emphasised that public safety remained its highest priority.
“The safety of citizens is the top priority of the Service, and within its authority, it carries out all necessary and urgent measures”, the statement said.
The State Security Service also issued a direct appeal to diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia, urging them to respect the work of national security agencies and avoid public commentary or warnings that were not coordinated through the appropriate governmental channels.
“We call on the diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia to respect the work of the agencies responsible for security, demonstrate greater responsibility, and refrain from issuing statements without coordination with the relevant institutions”, the statement concluded.
