The Georgian State Security Service on Thursday carried out several simultaneous special operations across the country as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts. These operations were the result of extensive operational activities and investigative measures conducted by the agency.
The operations led to the arrest of two Georgian citizens. During searches of their residences, law enforcement officers seized crucial evidence, including combat ammunition, various electronic devices, cash, and other significant items.
Authorities also discovered evidence suggesting potential links to an international terrorist organisation.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 328 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to joining a foreign terrorist organisation and assisting in terrorist activities.
The State Security Service's Counterterrorism Center is leading the investigation.
