The Migration Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 50 foreign nationals residing in the country without legal grounds during special migration control measures conducted across the country.
The Ministry reported that those detained include citizens of India, Vietnam, Turkmenistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Sudan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Jordan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Uganda, and Kenya.
As part of the operation, Migration Department officers inspected designated locations and various facilities to identify foreign citizens staying in Georgia without legal grounds.
The Ministry said the inspections established that the detained individuals were in violation of the requirements set out in the Law of Georgia on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons.
All detainees have been placed in the temporary accommodation centre of the Migration Department, where the necessary procedures for their deportation from the country are currently underway.
