Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Thursday said that the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States must be rebuilt on the principles of fairness.
Speaking about what he called a positive dynamic in US-Georgia relations, Ionatamishvili noted that recent developments indicate progress toward improving cooperation between the two nations.
“Clearly, dignified relations between countries are built on the principle of fairness, and relations between the United States and Georgia deteriorated precisely when we witnessed dishonest and unfair approaches in a number of areas”, he said.
“Therefore, our goal is, of course, a reset, and this reset must be based on the principles of fairness. A positive dynamic is already evident. We are seeing regular meetings and high-level visits, which help strengthen the issue of fairness”, Ionatamishvili concluded.
