Traditionally close and friendly relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan, based on the principles of equality and mutual respect, were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Mariam Kvrivishvili, the minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia, and Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the president of Turkmenistan.
The meeting focused on bilateral economic cooperation issues, with particular emphasis on attracting investments from Turkmenistan to Georgia, especially in the transport, logistics, and manufacturing sectors. The discussions also covered ways to deepen cooperation in trade and tourism.
Kvrivishvili highlighted Georgia’s role as a reliable regional partner, emphasizing its function in providing seamless access to Black Sea port infrastructure and connectivity to European markets.
Both sides also discussed Georgia’s involvement in various connectivity initiatives aimed at developing competitive transport routes between Europe and Asia. It was noted that, amid recent disruptions in global supply chains, the Middle Corridor has gained significant recognition as a reliable alternative linking Europe and Asia.
The meeting further addressed other key areas of mutual cooperation, with both sides expressing readiness to strengthen bilateral economic ties and expand practical collaboration across strategic sectors.
