The Embassy of the United States in Georgia on Tuesday commemorated the 34th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the United States and Georgia.
“On this day, 34 years ago, March 24, 1992, the United States and Georgia established diplomatic relations, which became the cornerstone of decades of collaboration and partnership between our nations”, the Embassy said.
“The United States recognized Georgia’s independence in December 1991, and this step marked the next stage in deepening our bilateral relationship. In an address to the American people, the White House noted that this meant opening the US Embassy in Tbilisi as soon as possible and supporting Georgia’s efforts to join international financial institutions”, the statement noted.
