The 15th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Armenia was held on Wednesday under the co-chairmanship of the prime minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze and the prime minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the positive dynamics of deepening partnership across various sectors and outlined future prospects for cooperation between the two countries.
Prime minister Kobakhidze emphasised the strategic partnership with Armenia, the growing cooperation between the two nations, and the importance of maintaining stability in the region.
“Our countries have established diverse formats of cooperation, which have positively contributed to the development of our partnership. Armenia consistently ranks among Georgia’s top ten trading partners. In terms of visitor numbers to Georgia, Armenia is among the top three countries. Beyond trade and economic relations, we are connected by close cooperation in areas such as education, culture, people-to-people relations, and strategic sectors. Against this backdrop, there is significant potential to further deepen collaboration in all directions. It is also crucial to maintain stability in the region. We welcome the positive trends that have emerged recently. The peace agreement signed between you and Azerbaijan was particularly important. All of this creates a strong foundation for further strengthening and developing our region. Mr. Prime Minister, I would like to thank you for your personal contribution to the development of our bilateral relations. We highly appreciate it”, Kobakhidze noted.
Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the Georgian government for its consistent support of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and highlighted the positive momentum in trade and economic ties between the two countries.
“Since gaining independence, trains from Georgia have been operating to Armenia, and we hope that railway connectivity will further increase trade volumes. Your support in this matter is invaluable. With Georgia’s support, trilateral trade and cooperation between Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan have deepened. Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan will undoubtedly improve the environment in our region. We will continue to unconditionally support Georgia’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political independence. The historical ties between our peoples are very strong and positive. This is an essential and valuable asset”, Pashinyan noted.
