Nikoloz Samkharadze, the chair of the foreign relations committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Friday held a meeting with OSCE secretary general Feridun Sinirlioğlu during the Winter Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to discuss general security issues, Georgia’s candidacy for the 2027 OSCE Chairmanship, and domestic political stability.
In his remarks, Samkharadze noted that the meeting with the OSCE secretary general focused broadly on security matters in the OSCE area.
“At the meeting with the OSCE secretary general, we discussed security issues in general. We also touched upon the Moscow Mechanism, and the OSCE secretary general expressed satisfaction that this mission was received at a fairly high level in Georgia. This demonstrates Georgia’s openness and its readiness to engage in dialogue on any issue”, he said.
The meeting also covered Georgia’s nomination for the OSCE Chairmanship next year. The official highlighted that the country’s candidacy was discussed in detail as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts.
“We also discussed our candidacy for next year - Georgia’s nomination for the OSCE Chairmanship. In addition, we spoke about domestic political processes. The OSCE Secretary General noted with satisfaction that political processes have become more stable, and for him, as Secretary General, it is important that the Georgian delegation be quite actively represented on both the executive and parliamentary platforms”, he concluded.
