Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Sunday reviewed the prospects of relations between Georgia and the United States in an interview with Imedi TV, emphasising the importance of dialogue and bilateral engagement.
Botchorishvili stressed that the Georgian Government had repeatedly expressed its readiness to renew relations with the United States, noting that such a process requires commitment from both sides.
“We have said many times that we are ready to renew relations with the United States, and of course this requires certain engagement from both sides. This statement also confirms that there is some willingness on the part of the United States to resume work on what can be done for the two countries and what may be in the interests of both countries within these relations”, the Minister said.
She underlined that dialogue was an essential condition for partnership. In her view, relations between the two countries should be built on a clear understanding of mutual interests.
“First of all, this requires dialogue and engagement from both sides so that it becomes clearer what interests the United States is pursuing in our region and what could be included on the agenda of relations between our countries”, she concluded.
