Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Saturday expressed gratitude to Georgia for providing vital transit services that enable cargo and goods movement from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Aliyev emphasised that Azerbaijan has lifted all restrictions on cargo transportation through its territory and acknowledged Georgia’s support in ensuring smooth transit.
“We have lifted all restrictions on cargo transportation through Azerbaijan. We are grateful to our Georgian friends for providing very important transit once the goods travel through Georgia from Azerbaijan to Armenia”, he said.
The Azerbaijani President also revealed that Azerbaijan has begun supplying petroleum products to Armenia, marking what he described as the effective start of bilateral trade relations.
“We have also begun supplying petroleum products to Armenia, which are critically important for them, and in doing so we have effectively initiated bilateral trade”, he noted.
He further highlighted that connectivity projects and regional corridors would strengthen interdependence among the countries of the South Caucasus and reshape the geopolitical landscape.
“Connectivity projects and corridors will bring us even closer together, make us interdependent, and create an entirely new situation in the South Caucasus, where Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia will ultimately begin cooperation on a trilateral basis”, Aliyev concluded.
