Georgia should make every effort to build partnerships with all countries where cooperation is possible, and these partnerships must be based on clear principles, said on Monday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in an interview with Rustavi 2 TV channel.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that Georgia needs to expand its international ties as broadly as possible in all directions.
“We have clearly stated our position regarding the United States and have said that we are ready at any time to renew the strategic partnership that was suspended by the former US administration. We are ready to restore the strategic partnership at any moment”, the PM said.
He added that his Government was ready to restart cooperation with the United States “from a clean slate”, based on a specific roadmap.
Commenting on relations with the European Union, the Prime Minister said Georgia was also ready to move forward immediately.
“As for the EU and the opening of [accession] talks, we have said that as soon as they put it on the table, we will sign it immediately. However, we do not hear a reciprocal response from the other side”, Kobakhidze concluded.
