Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Friday said that the Georgian Government was standing by Ukraine on the international platform, having sheltered up to 30,000 Ukrainians, providing them with aid.
Machavariani’s comments came after the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on the situation of human rights in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
He noted that dozens of countries refrained from joining the resolutions so as not to provoke Russia.
“We fully support [Ukraine] on every international platform. We should also remind the public that we have taken in about 30,000 Ukrainians, provided them with social assistance, and reopened schools for children. In terms of humanitarian aid, we hold one of the leading positions globally. The only thing we did not help with is that where we are not at war, we did not fight, and where we are at war, look at our history - no one’s instructions or advice are needed for that”, Machavariani noted.
