Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday said the Georgian Government was highlighting the problems within the European Union bureaucracy, illustrating the obstacles and delays that member states and partners often encounter in their dealings with the Union.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that it was important for Georgia, a country with European aspirations, to see a Europe that was founded on the very values that guided it and on the values on which it had been created.
“For quite a long time, we have highlighted the problems within the European Union bureaucracy, which became evident in relations with Georgia. Georgia was a good example to show, not only to our society but beyond, the challenges that today’s EU bureaucracy faces. Nowadays, these issues are being discussed widely”, she said.
“We also heard criticism from the President of the United States, which is a matter that European society needs to reflect on. Of course, for us, a country with European aspirations, it is important to see a Europe that is founded on the very values that guide it and on the values on which it was created”, Botchorishvili concluded.
