The Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Friday said it was important for the country to cooperate within the OSCE, regardless of how effective this organisation was.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that the principles on which the OSCE standard was based were important to the Georgian Government.
She further emphasised the importance of Georgia's participation in the 32nd OSCE Ministerial, noting international organisations should not be used for the political goals of some specific groups.
“Georgia is a participating country of the OSCE, which has an agenda related to security issues in this organisation, and any attempts to use this organisation for other purposes are, of course, unacceptable and it is very important to talk about this. That is why I voiced the fact within the framework of the ministerial that international organisations should not be used for the political purposes of some specific groups”, the FM said.
“Unfortunately, we saw this in the case of the Council of Europe - you know, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a very wrong resolution, which is why the Georgian delegation left the Council of Europe Assembly. Of course, cooperation within the OSCE is important to us, regardless of how effective this organisation is. The principles on which the organisation stands are important to us, and of course, in this context, it is necessary that the issue of Georgia is always on the agenda”, she concluded.
