Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Wednesday said that, on the backdrop of the tense situation in the world, Georgia and Armenia continued to develop their political, economic, and people-to-people ties.
In his speech during a briefing held together with his Armenian counterpart Vahagn Khachaturyan, Kavelashvili expressed his pleasure at hosting the President of the friendly and strategic partner country on an official visit to Georgia.
He noted that this was their second meeting, recalling his own official visit to Armenia on April 29, and publicly thanked President Khachaturyan once again for the warm hospitality.
Kavelashvili focused on the strategic partnership agreement signed in 2024.
“It is gratifying that 2025 has proven to be especially fruitful in terms of deepening the ties between our countries. The results achieved within the framework of the strategic partnership clearly demonstrated the effectiveness and scale of our cooperation”, he said.
Georgian President noted that the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries was exemplary.
“For many centuries, Georgia and Armenia have lived side by side in harmony. The centuries-old relationship between our countries, founded on mutual respect, trust, and unwavering friendship, has never been based solely on geographical proximity. What is truly essential in this process are the shared values and common visions that unite our peoples - the protection of state sovereignty, national identity, and cultural distinctiveness, which are top priorities for both Georgia and Armenia. These factors provide a solid foundation for even closer partnership. The multifaceted cooperation between our countries is truly exemplary. Alongside active bilateral relations, Georgia and Armenia also cooperate productively on multilateral platforms”, Kavelashvili said.
He thanked his Armenian counterpart for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity.
“In this context, the steadfast support of the Armenian state regarding the issue of Georgia’s territorial integrity is particularly important. For this, Mr. President, I would like to thank your country both on my own behalf and on behalf of the Georgian people”, Georgian President noted.
He further added that against the backdrop of global tensions, Georgia and Armenia continued to develop their political, economic, and people-to-people ties.
“During the meeting, I noted that given the rapidly changing geopolitical environment, maintaining peace and stability in the South Caucasus is gaining increasing importance. It is noteworthy that against the backdrop of global tensions, we continue to develop our political, economic, and people-to-people ties”, Kavelashvili concluded.
