Bilateral relations and priorities for future cooperation were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Mikheil Chokoshvili, the Head of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, and Jonathan Askonas, a representative of the United States Department of State.
Chokoshvili expressed hope that the United States would continue actively supporting Georgia in enhancing its customs control capabilities, which would contribute to the development of lawful trade monitoring in the region.
The parties also emphasised the crucial role of the Revenue Service’s Customs Department in supporting the implementation of international sanctions.
Members of the US delegation toured the Sadakhlo-Autopoint customs checkpoint and observed the border-crossing procedures.
