Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Monday emphasised the meeting with her Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar on her first official visit to Israel, discussing the existing relations between the two countries and the prospects for their future development.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that the officials also talked about strengthening trade and economic ties.
“This is my first visit to Israel and the first opportunity to meet with my colleague. We talked about strengthening trade and economic ties, sectors of interest such as agriculture, trade and education, and what steps should be taken to further strengthen ties. We also discussed specific plans and I hope that relations between the two countries will further strengthen in this direction. We have quite good indicators in the tourism sector, Georgia is a place for visitors, this is also very important, and our relations should be further strengthened in this direction”, she said.
In the framework of the visit, Botchorishvili will also hold meetings with Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Avi Dichter.
As part of the visit, the Georgian Foreign Minister will visit the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and meet with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III.
The Minister will also lay a wreath at Yad Vashem, the Holocaust victims’ memorial in Jerusalem.
