The Federal Government of Germany has responded to questions submitted by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party regarding Peter Fischer, the country’s Ambassador to Georgia.
According to the official document, under Article 3 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, one of the core functions of a diplomatic mission is to gather information by all lawful means about conditions and developments in the host country and to report this to the sending government, which includes holding meetings with representatives of both the government and the opposition.
Addressing AfD’s specific inquiry about whether it is true that Ambassador Fischer rented an expensive property from opposition leader Mamuka Khazaradze, the German Government explicitly stated that “No, this is not true”.
However, it is publicly known that Khazaradze himself confirmed the fact that Fischer had rented an apartment from him and subsequently paid a fine related to the matter
