Fruitful cooperation between the legislative bodies of Georgia and Armenia as well as the positive dynamics of visits were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Sisak Gabrielyan, the Chair of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Sports and Youth of the National Assembly of Armenia.
The meeting highlighted the frequent exchanges between the sectoral committees.
Papuashvili emphasised the importance of the participation of the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the 5th Silk Road Forum held Tbilisi, as well as the working visit of the National Assembly President Alen Simonyan to Georgia.
The parties further discussed the ongoing developments in the South Caucasus region.
The meeting noted that regional peace would be of great benefit to all three countries in the region.
The Parliament Speaker underlined that Georgia had always been a big supporter of the resolution of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and noted that the recent developments were a good opportunity to start a new stage in terms of regional development.
Gabrielyan congratulated Papuashvili on the convincing victory of the Georgian Dream party in the local self-government elections held in October.
