Nikola Stajanović, Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Trade and State Secretary, on Wednesday emphasised the importance of restoring the Silk Road and expanding economic and trade relations between the states.
In his remarks during the panel discussion Reviving Global Trade at the ongoing Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi, Stajanović expressed hope that the restoration of direct flights with Georgia would help expand economic and trade cooperation.
“Georgia’s efforts to revive the Silk Road were aimed at turning challenges into opportunities. Georgia ensured that the South Caucasus played and would continue to play the role of a bridge between the West and the East. We supported this strategic vision to strengthen investment, sustainability, and the promotion of entrepreneurship”, the Minister said.
“Our goal was to strengthen regional supply chains not only with the Caspian and Black Sea regions, but beyond them as well”, he concluded.
The Tbilisi Silk Road Forum is being held for the fifth time in the Georgian capital, attracting high-ranking political officials, business sector representatives, and international organizations. The event is traditionally representative and sectorally diverse, with over 2,300 delegates from more than 70 countries in attendance.
