Priority areas of trade and economic relations between Georgia and the United Kingdom were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and Gareth Ward, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the country.
During the meeting, the parties emphasised successful cooperation in sectors such as trade, energy, tourism, civil aviation, and others.
The meeting focused on the positive dynamics in trade relations between the two countries.
The conversation also touched upon current trends in Georgia's energy sector, highlighting actions aimed at enhancing energy independence and security.
The officials further reviewed the development of transit projects passing through Georgia, intended to supply Europe with energy resources.
The meeting also emphasised that British Airways and easyJet were successfully operating in Georgia’s aviation market.
Another topic of discussions was Georgia’s steps toward the enforcement of international sanctions. As the Minister noted, Georgia strictly adheres to the relevant norms of international law and national legislation and takes preventive measures to prevent third parties from evading sanctions - both in customs and maritime sectors.
