Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Tuesday emphasised Georgia’s pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity and developing transport corridors, particularly for Central Asian countries, during her remarks at the third UN conference in the Turkmen city of Awaza.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili underscored the importance of deepening cooperation with Central Asian nations, given Georgia’s strategic position as a transit hub.
“It is important for us to develop cooperation with these countries, given that Georgia plays a significant role in the region, particularly in terms of connectivity and the development of transport corridors, which is an important issue for the countries of the Central Asian region”, Botchorishvili said.
The conference provided a platform for Georgia to showcase its regional influence and explore opportunities for expanded cooperation aligned with national interests.
A key meeting with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister focused on deepening bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on economic cooperation and collaboration in various sectors.
Botchorishvili noted that the Georgian delegation held bilateral meetings with leaders from regional countries to discuss strengthening ties.
“My colleague plans to visit Georgia in the near future, and we will be able to discuss in greater detail the directions in which relations with Turkmenistan and Central Asian countries, in general, can be developed”, the Minister concluded.
